Akses Bersama is a community-led campaign to make it easier for LGBTQIA+ people in Malaysia to access the support, care, and justice they deserve.

We bring together legal aid, healthcare, mental health services and community support, provided by people and organisations who understand and affirm diverse identities.

This initiative is powered by Justice for Sisters, PLUHO, SEED Malaysia, and Kemban Kolektif, with input from LGBTQIA+ groups and advocates across the country. Together, we’re building an ecosystem of services rooted in trust, respect, and solidarity.

Built for LGBTQIA+ Communities.

Voices from Our Changemakers

LGBT+ affirming healthcare services are essential because they save lives. Physicians and therapists who avoid or fail to acknowledge LGBT+ issues in their clients put them at high risk of being neglected. Being LGBT+ affirming will ensure that LGBT+ folks receive a holistic treatment as much as any other Malaysian.

At PT Foundation, client-centred care takes on an extra meaning - being community-led, we understand the needs and challenges our Clients face in accessing healthcare, as we are part of the community.

Healthcare is a basic human right, not an exclusively cisheteronormative right. Queer folks matter and are deserving of dignified and affirming healthcare. May we, as healthcare providers, show up, not only relying on words but also mobilise to illustrate it through action.

For stateless queer individuals living with HIV, being denied access to healthcare or legal support isn't just injustice. It’s a daily reality. LGBTQ-affirming services are not a luxury; they are a lifeline. Everyone deserves care and dignity, regardless of status or identity.

Access to LGBTQ-affirming services in Malaysia is essential because everyone deserves dignity, safety, and support. As a clinical psychologist, I’ve seen how affirming care fosters healing, while its absence causes harm. Inclusive care upholds the right to live authentically and ensures that no one is left behind.

Legal system must recognise and protect the rights of LGBTQ people to access justice. Comprehensive gender equality, anti-discrimination laws and sensitised law enforcement are essential to dismantle systemic barriers. Justice must be accessible, responsive, and affirming for LGBTQ survivors of violence.

Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO)

In a disabling environment like Malaysia, access to LGBTQ-affirming services has the potential to connect folks to life-saving services. Until LGBTQ+ individuals are equal in the eyes of the law and governmental policies, these services are essential to securing the safety and protection of LGBTQ+ people and our rights.
